Interview with Jenny Hoople from Authentic Arts

Good morning everyone, yes I know it's been quite a while since I've done a feature but you know it was because I was supposed to have been in back surgery but with the cancellation and all I might as well start and just wait it out and deal with it when it the time comes, that's all.

Wow have I got a great jewelry designer for you today,
her name is Jenny Hoople and her shop is called Authentic Arts and it is the most wonderful place in the world. It's colorful and her jewelry is so refreshing, it's alive with vibration, it makes you want to try them all on, too bad she doesn't have a real life shop, because I sure would be the first one in line to try them on. Jenny is a true person and when you see her work you will know exactly what I mean. She is vibrant, very connected with nature and quite one on one with herself. From what I have read in her profile: ''her life ethic is one of authenticity, and for her and authentic life is one that's handmade.'' And I can really relate to that.
So be sure to visit her shop Authentic Arts for some wonderful gift ideas for Christmas coming.
She also has a website where you can see her gallery and you can find her blog.

So let's get to know Jenny with our little interview.

What's your name? Jenny Hoople
Where are you from? Beloit, Wisconsin, USA
What has gotten you interested in your business? A few years ago I had grown some grey job's tears seeds in my garden and this last July inspiration struck. Since then I haven't been able to stop making glamorous, colorful, natural jewelry!
What made you decide on your shop's name? My business name is Authentic Arts. My life ethic is one of authenticity, a more authentic life is a more meaningful one, and, for me, an authentic life is one that's handmade. Authenticity for me also means using "natural" materials (stone, bone, wood, shell, silk) because even when altered by human hands and arranged and strung by them, the beauty of the processes that formed them breaks through and dazzles me! I'm always trying to get closer to authenticity, to real-ness.

What's the item you're most proud of? The Falling Water necklace http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27860012, it's just fabulous!
What or who inspires you? More often than not, the materials themselves inspire me as I start putting them out next to each other and arranging them. I minored in geology in college and I've always been fascinated by rocks and minerals. I find inspiration from beautiful color combinations in the natural landscape, in my outfits, in embroideries I've bought!

what is your typical workday like?? At the end of every day, I make a to-do list for the next one, so at the beginning of every day, I do my morning routine and then look at the list. I try to create and list 2 new items every day, I take photos when I've got 5-10 new items ready, edit photos the day after I take them, update my inventory the day after that, and promote promote promote constantly!
Is your business full time? If not, what do you do to pay the bills? Part-time! I end up spending from 4-6 hours on my business apart from everything else. I also work part-time in a library and on an organic farm. (Most of the bills get paid because of the hard-work of my husband who works on the organic farm full-time!)

What do you do in your spare time? I love knitting, painting, reading, drawing, cooking, canning, gardening, etc... My favorite down-time activity is just hanging out with the rest of the people on the farm crew!
What are your goals for your business? I want to make it work! To make enough money and have enough demand for my work to keep up with my production. I love creating! I wouldn't mind having to leave my library job to keep up with Authentic Arts. :)
